“Replacing Bamboo with Plastic”.

According to the Opinions on Accelerating the Innovation and Development of the Bamboo Industry jointly issued by 10 departments including the National Forestry and Grass Administration and the National Development and Reform Commission, the total output value of the bamboo industry in China will exceed 700 billion yuan by 2025, and exceed 1 trillion yuan by 2035.

The total output value of the domestic bamboo industry has been updated to the end of 2020, with a scale of nearly 320 billion yuan. To achieve the goal of 2025, the compound annual growth rate of the bamboo industry should reach about 17%. It is worth noting that although the scale of bamboo industry is huge, it covers many fields such as consumption, medicine, light industry, breeding and planting, and there is no clear target for the actual proportion of “replacing plastic with bamboo”.

In addition to the policy – end power, in the long run, the large-scale application of bamboo also faces cost – end pressure. According to people in Zhejiang paper enterprises, the biggest problem of bamboo is that it can not achieve wheel cutting, resulting in increased production costs year by year. “Because bamboo grows on the mountain, it is generally cut from the bottom of the mountain, and the more it is cut up, the higher the cost of cutting it, so its production costs will gradually increase. Looking at the long-term cost problem always exists, I think ‘bamboo instead of plastic’ is still partial concept stage.”

In contrast, the same concept of “plastic replacement”, degradable plastics because of the clear alternative direction, the market potential is more intuitive. According to the analysis of Huaxi Securities, the domestic consumption of shopping bags, agricultural film and takeout bags, which are the most tightly controlled under the plastic ban, exceeds 9 million tons a year, with huge market space. Assuming that the replacement rate of degradable plastics in 2025 is 30%, the market space will reach more than 66 billion yuan in 2025 at an average price of 20,000 yuan/ton of degradable plastics.
